Take Your Place in History

Volunteering can be enjoyable, rewarding and fun, especially when it involves; stewarding in a 16th Century Historic House - guiding visitors through underground passages on ghost tours - serving in the Stables Gift Shop - giving assistance with car parking and generally acting as ambassador for one of the most atmospheric homes in England.  For further details contact the office 01254 852986.

Classic Car & Motorcycle Show

Cars, motorbikes autojumble and trade stands from 11.00am—4.00pm. Admission £6.00 to show and grounds. House open for guided tours, 11.00am—5.00pm, additional charge £3.00 per adult, concessions and children £2.00. Tearoom and gift shop open.

Sunday 19th September
Merchant of Hoghton Farmers Market 10.00am—2.00pm

Featured on BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme as the county’s largest local producers market and a fantastic showcase for Lancashire produce. . Admission £1.00 per car. House open for guided tours 11.00am—5.00pm Adults £6.00, concessions & children £5.00

Sunday 26th September
Hoghton Tower’s Motorcycle Sprint 10.00am—4.00pm

The famous long drive is the centre piece for a test of nerves and skill as competitors compete for glory at this very popular national event. Admission £8 per person, children free accompanied by an adult. House not open for guided tours.

Ghost Tours

As you ascend the long drive of reputedly the third most haunted house in Britain we will be waiting for you. Tales passed down through centuries and mulled wine to take away the chill prepare you for what is to follow. Heed the storyteller as you venture through silent rooms, explore ancient underground passages lit only by candlelight and then peer into dungeons associated with the Lancashire Witches. Finally, relax in the warmth and comfort of the Vaio Room where a delicious meal awaits you and the opportunity to reflect on what you have seen and heard. Tickets £25.00 per person. Booking Essential. Arrival 7.15pm for 7.30pm.

Halloween

A spooky visit for families from 1.00pm— 4.00pm (last entry 3.00pm). Dress warm, we don’t want you to shiver!
Do you like puzzles? If so, accept the challenge and follow the Discovery Trail around the Courtyards & Gardens. Explore the Underground Passages taking care not to disturb the sleeping bats, creepy crawlies and giant spider. Meet Will the Wizard in the wishing Wellhouse. He will conjure up a present for each child. Slowly descend the stone steps to the dungeons and the………..
Tickets £5.00 per child, available on the day from the Stables Gift Shop. One adult free with every child, additional adults £3.00 per person.

‘Deck the Hall with Boughs of Holly’ 7.30pm10.00pm

The season’s ‘Hot Ticket’.  Celebrate Christmas in the 16th century Great Hall, one of the most famous Banqueting Halls in Britain.  Relax by the log fire amid the aroma of mulled wine and mince pies.  Hear  musical favourites, comic monologues, poetry, prose and song performed by Demi -Paradise,  a company of professional players, musicians and  singers. “A Magical Meeting with Father Christmas”

Enter the  Inner Courtyard  through the archway and follow the guide down the steps that lead beneath the tower.  When you reach the Wishing Well walk once round and make a wish.  Then venture along underground passages until you find Santa in his grotto.  Tell him what you would like for Christmas and receive a gift from under the tree.  Tickets £5.00 per child available on the day from the Stables Gift Shop from 10.00am.  One adult free per child.  Admission £1.00 per car.
