The history at Hoghton Tower
The Grade I listed building is the century’s old home of the de Hoghton family. The family are direct descendants of Harvey de Walter.
Hoghton Tower itself was recreated in 1565. The fortified, hilltop manor is 650ft above sea level and stands in a commanding position. Situated between Preston and Blackburn, with unrivalled views of the likes of North Wales, Lancashire and the Lake District, this attraction is the only baronial hall in the Lancashire area.
Royal guests over the last few 100 years have been welcomed to Hoghton Castle. These include the likes of George V & Queen Mary, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip and other guests like Chares Dickens and William Shakespeare.
In more recent times, the tower is a place to learn and experience for visitors thanks to the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust whilst preserving its historical past.
