Filming at Hoghton Tower

Filming location in Lancashire

In 1996 Alex Kingston starred in a memorable ‘Moll Flanders’ co-starring Diana Rigg in a Granada television production.

In 2005 before he found his tardis,  ‘Dr Who’ star David Tennant took the leading role in ‘Casanova’.  The Tower featured as the backdrop and the 16th century barn was converted into a dormitory and school room.

Staying with ‘the stars’ ‘Life on Mars’ with Philip Glenister treated viewers to a panoramic view of the driveway complete with 70’s car. For Cold Blood in 2007 the Tower became an army barracks, with a scene filmed at midnight showing a mine exploding.  Said a spokesman from the film crew "We haven't filmed at Hoghton Tower before, but we would certainly use it again. It's a beautiful setting and was ideal filming."
Past productions have included actors Sir Laurence Olivier and Sir Anthony Quayle.
