This summer Hoghton Tower and the National Citizen Service are partnering up to provide young people the chance to make a difference at the Tower.
Hoghton Tower is excited to announce its partnership with NCS The Challenge this summer for some fun, creative, and productive sessions whereby young people come to the Tower, interact with our guides, develop ideas about how to improve how the Tower reaches young people, and then come up with a professional plan of how those ideas can be implemented.
Within this partnership, the young people will also be helping our staff, volunteers, and other students to help clear away our pavilion area which nature has overgrown and has caused it to be closed to the public.
This pavilion activity brings a great deal of opportunity to the Tower to open up this largely closed off area to the public once it has been properly surveyed and restored to suitable public access.
To welcome the young people is important for the future of Hoghton Tower; not only from the perspective of attracting new and younger visitors, but from the perspective of introducing new volunteering opportunities, making Hoghton Tower a place for the young to come and visit, and enact the principles of the Trust including community and education duties.
We are proud to partner with NCS The Challenge as one of the largest youth engagement initiatives in the UK, and by partnering with them, we reach a college-age audience, which has been notoriously difficult for us to reach in the past.
