Children and School Visits to Hoghton Tower

Historical Tours for School Groups and Family Days Out in Lancashire

Take the long drive into the 16th century and explore the Tower’s ramparts and fairytale turrets with views across Lancashire, the Lake District and North Wales.  Search the Wilderness Lawn and Rose Garden solving rhyming clues on the Discovery Trail. Visit the Dolls House Collection and peep through the windows. Finally, descend the steps to the Tudor Well-House and venture along the underground passages of reputedly the third most haunted house in Britain; pass by the Priest’s Hiding Hole and peer into the dungeons associated with the Lancashire Witches.
A special programme of events for children includes Easter Egg Rolling, Falconry Displays, Fairies, Princesses, Knights & Dragons and Indoor and Outdoor Theatre.

Hoghton Tower is perfect for an inspirational, educational visit. Our experienced guides can give educational tours to children and students of all ages to suit the school curriculum. We don’t do boring bits, our tours are interesting and informative.  ‘History as they Like It’, a learning experience with role-play, ‘The Knighting of a Loin of Beef’.  Excitement, the walk through the underground passages to the dungeons. Surprises, the hairy mouse and the miniature Dolls’ Houses.

Our young visitors often return asking for more and more and more!  The Tilting Green is perfect for picnics and in the event of rain, meals can be taken indoors.
