Hoghton Tower Closed All Week
The King Returns event, which commences Saturday 8th July, is fast approaching and due to all the necessary preparation that needs to be completed for the event, Hoghton Tower will be closed to the public during the week beginning Monday 3rd July to Friday 7th July to give us time to prepare.
We want to make The King Returns event the best weekend possible for all attendees and to ensure that absolutely every aspect of this event is of the highest quality, and to do this, we need to take time to prepare for this very important event.
Celebrate the 400th anniversary of King James I’s visit to Hoghton Tower with a spectacular weekend of pomp, majesty, music and drama!
Cheer the King as he arrives on horseback;
See the grand dinner where the King knights a sirloin of beef
Petition the King as he holds court;
Speak to the servants as they work and see what life was like for ordinary people;
Hear, see and smell the sights and sounds of 1617 and be a part of the drama.
You’ll meet the King’s horse, enjoy crafts and fun activities for youngsters, feast on our ox roast and other tasty treats both modern and historical, and experience a family day out you’ll never forget.
There’s access for all, meaningful history for all cultures, and our friendly, expert guides will be on hand for those who want to learn more, meaning everyone can enjoy this unique event.
