28th July – Historic Graffiti & Superstitious Beliefs – Special Tour

Posted on 24th Apr 2024 | Jane

Let us transport you back over four hundred years, to a time when King James I, and the people of that time, held firm beliefs about and against witches and witchcraft.

Your guide will give you an insight into the king’s fascination with witchcraft and describe the various forms of historic graffiti recently discovered at Hoghton Tower. You will see the symbols, marks and taper burns, that the family and servants used to protect themselves and their precious possessions, against natural and supernatural forces.

Tickets for the tour are strictly limited to provide the best experience possible.

£11 per person (including a donation) or £10 per person (without a donation)

The Tour starts at 12:15pm and will last approximately 1.5 hours

The Tearoom & Gardens will be open 11:00am – 4:00pm (last entry 3:30pm)
